Bahrain booked their place in the 2007 Asian Cup finals after edging past Kuwait with a 2-1 victory in Manama on Wednesday. Talal Youssef opened the score for Bahrain from a 35th minute penalty kick and Salman Issa doubled the lead 10 minutes later. Faraj Laheeb scored the consolation goal for the Kuwait who missed out on qualification on goal difference with Bahrain who bagged their 4th point of Group D. Australia had already advanced to the finals after clinching the group summit with 9 points.
UAE booked their place in the finals In Group C action, UAE produced a hard fought 3-2 win over Pakistan while Jordan crushed Oman 3-0. The results mean UAE leaped to the summit of Group C with 13 points to advance to the finals along with second placed Oman who have 12 points to their name. Elsewhere, Uzbekistan beat Qatar 2-0 to qualify for the finals as runners-up for Group F. Despite the defeat Qatar also advanced as group winners.
