Tottenham manager Martin Jol dished out praise for Egyptian striker Mido who scored Spurs winning goal in the 1-0 win against West Ham in the Premiership on Sunday. The Egypt international was fielded as a replacement for Bulgarian counterpart Dimitar Berbatov, who was not feeling well. "Berbatov was really tired so Mido had to show something," Jol told Sky Sports after the game. Mido repaid his manager by netting a spectacular winner and ending his goalless streak. "Before the goal it was difficult for him but then he showed what he was all about. If he gets the ball in the box he is always dangerous," explained the Dutch manager.
Martin Jol Meanwhile, the 23-year-old ace was ecstatic about the whole night. "I am delighted with the performance, the win and the goal," the former Ajax talisman told Tottenham's official website. With his back to the goal, Mido received Edgar Davids' low pass from the left, lift the ball slightly to spin past marker Anton Ferdinand and sent a venomous left-footer into the far corner. "It was a tight angle for me, but sometimes you have to try your luck. I took the first touch well, decided to have a go and thankfully it went in. “When you get your chance you have to grab it and do your best - that is what happened here," a smiling Mido added.
