Tottenham wrap up Bent deal as Mido nears exit door
Published in FilGoal on 29 - 06 - 2007

Mido's chances of staying at White Hart Lane have become very slim after Tottenham Hotspur signed Charlton striker Darren Bent for a club record fee of 16.5 million pounds.
Bent, who snubbed a move to West Ham, has been set for an exit since Charlton were relegated from the Premiership.
He expressed his excitement at being part of Martin Jol's project of luring young talents to Spurs.
"Tottenham have a lot of young English players and it's a young squad, it's a squad going forward and that's the direction I wanted to take," Bent told the club's official website.
"They seem to be getting better and better every season and I would love to be part of that. It helps a lot that I know a few of the lads from England internationals and I'm sure they will help me settle in.
"It's exciting times for me and the club, hopefully I'll show what I can do at Tottenham and we'll go on to win things," he added.
It now appears as Mido will certainly depart the Londoners, given the abundance of attacking options Tottenham will have after the arrival of Bent.
Tottenham already have powerful striking duo Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane as well as the back-up Jermain Defoe.
Mido was close to joining Fulham but talks between both clubs have reached a stumbling block due to the Egyptian striker's wage demands.
