Hossam Ghaly scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur to lead the Premiership side to a 2-0 away victory over Turkey's Besiktas in the UEFA Cup on Thursday. The Egyptian international opened the score in the first-half after being set-up by Dimitar Berbatov before the Bulgarian striker himself sealed the victory three minutes past the hour mark. Spurs opened their Group B campaign with three points. Other contenders Germany's Bayer Leverkusen and Belgian side Club Brugge play later on Thursday. Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' did not take part in the game and wasn't even on the substitutes' bench as coach Martin Jol opted to leave him out of the squad. Former Feyenoord midfielder Ghaly put Tottenham ahead in the 32nd minute after he latched on to Berbatov's through pass before his shot was parried by Besiktas keeper Vedran Runje but it bounced off is body and went into the empty net. Berbatov ensured the win in the 63rd minute when he was released by Robbie Keane's volleyed pass before rounding the last defender and Runje to poke home into the empty net.
