Cameroon kicked-off their 2008 African Cup of Nations qualifiers with a 3-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali on Sunday. Guy Feutchine opened the score in the 55th minute before Chelsea's Geremi Njitap doubled the lead seven minutes later. Landry Nguemo sealed the victory six minutes from time to hand Cameroon a winning start in Group five. In Group four, Tunisia were held to a goalless away draw with Mauritius and Sudan thrashed Seychelles 3-0 at home.
Tunisia held in qualifiers' opener Angola, who are regarded as favorites to host the 2010 African Cup, snatched a 2-1 away win at Swaziland thanks to two goals from Joao Jamba and Loco in the 21st and 80th minutes. Ahli striker Flavio Amado and Benfica's Pedro Mantorras missed several chances throughout the game that could have widened the score. Elsewhere, Ethiopia edged Libya, who are coached by Egyptian boss Mohsen Saleh, 2-1 in Group 10 game. In other matches, Gambia beat Cape Verde Islands 2-0, Dr Congo defeated Namibia 3-2, Zambia cruised past Chad 2-0, Togo edged Benin 2-1 and Algeria were held to a goalless draw with Guinea.
