Portugal eye victory over England in their quarter-finals clash in the World Cup on Saturday rather than playing their beautiful, Latin-style game, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said. "Those who played beautifully are out," the 57-year-old Scolari was quoted as saying by FIFAworldcup.com on Friday. "I'm a coach who likes to have results, I can't say I want to play beautifully, England has the results in this tournament and so do we." Scolari's side labored to three victories over Angola, Mexico and Iran in the group stage before ousting Holland, one of the most stylish teams in the tournament, in a nail-biting clash in the round of 16. England also couldn't find their flow so far but were still capable of toppling ball-tricky sides Paraguay and Ecuador. But the Brazilian manager, who guided his country to the 2002 World Cup, urged his players to have fun since the starting whistle in Schalke.
"I'm going to tell them to enjoy it," said Scolari, who steered Portugal to victory over England in the same stage but in the EURO2004. "To enjoy playing a nice team like England, to enjoy being in the quarter finals of the World Cup, to have fun and that's the main thing we want." Portugal will play without instrumental playmaker Deco as well as holding midfielder Costinha, both serving an automatic one-match ban after being sent-off against Holland. Talented winger Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful with a thigh injury but Scolari says Portugal, who play in their first quarter-finals since 1966, still can win the game. "There is certainly a historical opportunity for us, and it's a great honor to be in this position now, if we go through it'll be one of the best achievements of my career."
