Ivory Coast boss Henri Michel said he will step down after his side's final World Cup Group C game against Serbia and Montenegro on Wednesday. The Ivorians suffered 2-1 defeats to both Argentina and Holland to exit the World Cup from the first round. "The Ivorian Soccer Federation did not ask to extend my contract, so for me it finishes with the match against the Serbians," the 57-year-old coach was quoted as saying BBC Sport. "We could have done something great here but it turned out otherwise." The French manager said he will try his best to win the final match against Serbia and Montenegro, whose coach has also announced he will leave the team post-Germany. Michel persisted that the World Cup debutants were victims of some poor refereeing decisions in the decisive 2-1 defeat by the Dutch on Friday. "This is a World Cup of regrets, especially with regard to the refereeing," he said. "I watched the game against the Netherlands again last night and saw some very obvious mistakes." "I am under the impression there is favoritism for larger countries over smaller ones when it comes to refereeing." Ivory Coast have been considered as the best of the five African qualifiers and were unlucky to be drawn in the competition's hardest group. When questioned whether he would coach another African team, Michel said: "I have given quite a lot to Africa already."
