Ahli closed negotiations with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow over Amr Zaki due to the high price tag set for the Egyptian striker, the Egyptian champions said Wednesday. "Ahli are no longer interested in this deal," Ahli marketing director Adli Al-Qayei told FilGoal.com. "The Russians demanded 1.7 million Euros to release Zaki on a permanent basis but this is too much for Ahli or any other Egyptian club to pay. "We were interested in signing Zaki for his talents and desire to play for Ahli but this deal is too pricy for the Egyptian market." Zaki joined Lokomotiv in March after playing a pivotal role in Egypt's African Cup of Nations winning campaign earlier this year. But the former Enppi forward was plagued by injuries and failed to feature for Lokomotiv's first-team, forcing the Russian club to put him on the departing list. Ahli's arch-rivals Zamalek are reportedly on the brink of landing Zaki after holding lengthy talks with Lokomotiv over the past few days.
