Champions League final assistant referee Ole Hermann Borgan, who has been photographed in a Barcelona shirt, was ruled out of the game, UEFA said late on Tuesday. "Ole Hermann Borgan has been replaced as assistant referee for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League final between FC Barcelona and Arsenal FC," UEFA said in an official statement on their website. "The UEFA Referees Committee has decided that the Norwegian should be substituted by his compatriot Arild Sundet. He will fly to Paris from Norway on Wednesday morning." Norwegian newspaper Drammens Tidende published an interview with Borgan on Tuesday, featuring him in a Barca jersey. The referee said that it was supposed to take a photo in both teams' shirts but he only owned a Barca one and that's why this photo appeared in the paper. "There is no reason to doubt my impartiality - I don't support either of the teams," BBC Sport quoted Borgan as saying. But he admitted he shouldn't have taken the photo in the first place. "It was both insensitive and stupid of me. I did not think deeply enough about the situation and the consequences when I was asked to dress up in the shirt." Barcelona and Arsenal will clash on Wednesday in the Champions League title at the Stade De France.
