Drogba, Bosingwa charged by UEFA
Published in FilGoal on 22 - 05 - 2009

Chelsea duo Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa have been charged with misconduct by UEFA after losing their temper at the end of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
The Blues looked on course to reach the elite competition's final for the second successive season but an Andres Iniesta stoppage-time strike at Stamford Bridge broke their hearts.
Ivorian striker Drogba and Portuguese full-back Bosingwa were accused of making offensive remarks against Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo following the final whistle.
Although Chelsea were quick to regret the events, they were also charged by UEFA.
"The disciplinary proceedings are based on the following charges: Chelsea FC for being responsible for the improper conduct of players and the throwing of missiles by their supporters," the European governing body said in a statement.
"Didier Drogba and Joseph Bosingwa for being in breach of the principles of sportsmanship by insulting the referee by making offensive comments.
"The club and the individuals concerned have been requested to file a statement by Friday, 29th May. The UEFA control & disciplinary body will deal with the case on 17th June."
Chelsea, who took the lead through a Michael Essien thunderbolt, bowed out on the away goals rule after a 1-1 draw with Barcelona, who will meet Manchester United in the Champions League final on Wednesday.
