Ahli have requested moving the upcoming Champions League home clash against Leopards from Gouna to Alexandria's Army Stadium in a bid to avoid daylight heat. Ahli – alongside city-rivals Zamalek – were forced to host group games at the floodlight-less Gouna Stadium during daytime, as authorities were reluctant to stage matches in either Cairo or Alexandria amid the ongoing unrest in Egypt. "We are currently talking with authorities over the possibility of having the game moved to Alexandria's Army Stadium instead of Gouna," football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz told FilGoal.com. The Reds had no other option but to endure Hurghada's heat twice during the fasting month of Ramadan, which saw them draw with Zamalek and succumb to a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates last month. Despite the end of the holy month, Mohamed Youssef's side are still hopeful of playing away from the coastal city, where the temperature reaches 38 °C at daytime. It remains to be seen how the Ministry of Interior would respond to Ahli's request as authorities are expected to turn down their bid.
