Iraq marched through the U-20 World Cup quarter-finals after edging out South Korea 5-4 on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 extra-time draw, with striker Farhan Shukor the hero of the night. Ali Faez put the Gulf side in front via a 21st minute penalty kick before Chang-Hoon Kwan restored parity four minutes later. But Shukor restored his side's lead again three minutes from half time before Gwang-Hoon Lee again equalized five minutes into the second half to end regular time in a 2-2 draw. Shukor thought that his side were already through when he hit his second two minutes from the end of added time, only for Hyun-Cheol Jung to salvage a priceless equalizer for the Koreans in the 122nd minute to force penalties. While Je-Min Yeon and Gwang-Hoon Lee missed for Korea, Fayez, Dhurgham Ismail, Mohammed Shwkan and Ali Adnan smashed from the spot before Shukor stepped in to score the decisive winner and send Iraq to a semi-final clash with Uruguay.
