President Hosni Mubarak, who had gallbladder surgery last month in Germany, will today hold his first Cabinet meeting since his return to Egypt in March, Cabinet spokesman Magdi Radi said Wednesday. "President Mubarak will host the Cabinet meeting tomorrow morning in Sharm el-Sheikh, God willing," Radi told Reuters, referring to the Red Sea resort where Mubarak, 81 and in power since 1981, has been recovering. Mubarak returned home on March 27 three weeks after undergoing gallbladder surgery in Germany, an operation that prompted him to temporarily hand over power to Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and fuelled speculation about the country's leadership. Egypt's stock market plummeted 5.5 per cent over three days due to worries over his health last week before finally rebounding when he appeared on TV to quell rumors over the state of his health.
