AFTER its success in 2009, the ‘Poetry Jam'is back in Egypt for the second time. In the ‘Arabic-German literature experience', three of the finest new-generation Egyptian poets and authors will meet and perform together with their counterparts from Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Paired up in Egyptian-European duos, the artists will show their talent in playing with words and language, improvising and entertaining the audience with their fast, witty and satirical texts. One of the key features of the Poetry Jam is the relaxed atmosphere in which Arabic German literature is presented. Public venues like the lawn in the Opera Grounds in Cairo, the Jesuit Cultural Centre in Alexandria and the Cultural Palace in Sohag, offer – for free – welcoming places for anyone interested in this innovative form of poetry or just curious to see what's going on to enjoy this extraordinary event. Participants in the second edition of the Poetry Jam will include Salam Youssri, Omar Mostafa and Mido Zoheir from Egypt along with Franziska Holzheimer from Germany, Yasmin Hafez from Austria and Christian Uetz from Switzerland. The second edition of the Poetry Jam in Cairo, Alexandria and Sohag is being presented by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Cairo and the Goethe Institute Egypt, as well as the Swiss Embassy in Cairo, with the support of the German Embassy in Cairo. The performances will kick off on April 11 at the Sohag Cultural Centre in Sohag at 7pm. The second performance will be at the Jesuit Cultural Centre in Alexandria on April 13 at 8pm, while the last performance will be in Cairo at the Cairo Opera House at 8:30pm on April 15.
