CAIRO - Egypt's former interior minister, Habib al-Adli, was sentenced on Thursday to 12 years in jail for money laundering and profiteering, a judicial source said. Many Egyptians have been closely watching the fate of Adli, one of the most hated members of the administration of Hosni Mubarak, because of the brutality of his police force during the uprising that deposed the former president on Feb. 11. Adli is also facing separate charges of killing pro-democracy protesters during the revolt and squandering public funds.
