No divorce for dangerous housewife:A housewife in Kafr el-Bustan near Damietta
got two of her male relatives to help her set her husband alight, because he refused to divorce her, so that she could marry her lover.
The victim is being treated in Damietta Specialised Hospital for serious
burn injuries.
The victim's brother, Moustafa Abdullah, 22, told police that his brother's
wife recruited her maternal uncle, a 27- year-old ex-convict called Mohamed
Mohamed Sadeq, and her paternal cousin, Ahmed Hanadeq Sadeq, 30, to torch her
husband. They were also helped by some other thugs.
Mohamed, Ahmed and the other heavies went round to the couple's house, where they poured four cans of petrol over Khaled Abdullah in the street and set him alight at iftar time, a crime that was witnessed by many of their neighbours.
Orfi justice ruled out: A car that was stolen from its owner in el-Sheikh Zuwaid,
North Sinai Governorate was returned to him only a few hours later. Amr, 22, was
driving home to the village of Abu Taweela near el-Sheikh Zuwaid, when his way was blocked by a lorry.
The three men inside the lorry got out and forced the victim, a jeweller, at gunpoint
to get out of his own car and give it to them. There was a large quantity of
money and jewellery in the car.
The violent thieves, who'd fallen out with Amr over money, then drove off in the
car.
Their dispute was due to be resolved in an orfi (informal) court, a customary
method employed by Bedouin tribes to resolve disputes, without having to resort
to the judicial authorities.
The suspects didn't want the dispute to be settled by an orfi court, so they threatened Amr and stole his car, in a bid to get him to drop his complaint.
The suspects now fact the prospect of facing official, not
orfi justice.
Brave officer: A detective from Giza had both his legs and arms broken early in the morning, when he was deliberately run over in Doqqi by a young man, whom the victim had spotted being intimate with a young lady in his car.
The officer tried to arrest the suspect, but he drive off at high speed, mowing down the Captain and dragging him down the road.
He was seriously injured, but, amazingly, has survived, preventing this incident
from turning into a murder inquiry.
The suspect was soon arrested, but his girlfriend jumped out of the car, ran off and is still at large.
The brave officer, who only got married a fortnight ago and nearly died
on his first day back at work after his honeymoon, is in a serious condition in the
Police Hospital in el-Agouza.
Captain Ahmed el-Sheemi noticed the totally naked couple behaving in an
unseemly fashion in el-Ansari Street. Captain Ahmed asked the first suspect to
get out of the car and show him his national ID.
Instead, he started up the engine of his privately owned car and drove it straight at the officer.
The unnamed suspect is a 29- year-old fine arts student at a private university,
whose family live in el-Qaliubia Governorate. He has been charged with attempted murder and indecent behaviour in a public place.
