CHINA, September 28, 2018 (News Wires) - John Higgins was never at his best, but managed to show all his trademark fighting qualities in a 5-3 win over Judd Trump in the China Championship last eight. The four-times world champion trailed 3-2, but somehow managed to hit back to edge the sixth frame on the closing pink. A run of 79 saw him move 4-3 clear before he eked out the victory in the eighth frame with Trump - who made a highest break of only 55 in the fourth frame - setting the match up for his opponent after missing a pink and developing the black from a side cushion. The Scotsman knocked in pink and black before breathing a huge sigh of relief as he set up a meeting with world number 58 Lyu Haotian in the last four on Saturday. 20-year-old Haotian enjoyed runs of 102, 57, 124 and 58 in a 5-1 success against Martin O'Donnell, who avoided the whitewash with a knock of 93 in the fourth frame.
