SHEFFElD, May 3, 2018 - John Higgins won a final-frame decider with Judd Trump 13-12 after trailing 7-3, 10-8 and 11-9 in a Crucible quarter-final classic. The four-times champion and last year's finalist will meet Kyren Wilson over the best-of-33 frame semi-final on Thursday, Friday and Saturday after producing a rousing recovery to overcome Trump, who lost to the Scotsman 18-15 in the final seven years ago. Trump looked to be in the driving seat when he pinched the 20th frame for an 11-9 lead, but Higgins produced runs of 75, 72 and 134 to lead 12-11. Trump claimed a fascinating 24th frame to force the decider buoyed by a stunning pot on a black, but he never got a chance in the 25th frame as Higgins produced some stirring pots to progress to the semi-final. "It must be heartbreaking for him but for me to win is a brilliant feeling," said Higgins. "He was the better player and I was hanging on to his coat tails." Mark Williams - who like Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan turned professional in 1992 - also reached his first World Championship semi-final since 2011 with a 13-8 win over Ali Carter in the last eight. The two-times world champion - who won the trophy in 2000 and 2003 - will face Barry Hawkins for a place in the final after breaks of 83 and 113 helped him win four of the final five frames against Carter, the conqueror of tournament favourite O'Sullivan in the last 16. Williams lost to eventual champion Higgins 17-14 in his last visit to the one-table set-up at the Crucible in 2011. John Higgins won five straight frames from 7-3 behind on his way to levelling up his World Championship quarter-final with Judd Trump at 8-8. In arguably the best session of snooker at this year's tournament in Sheffield, Higgins looked to be in deep trouble when he lost the 10th frame on a re-spotted black having made 64 only to watch Trump produce a brilliant clearance of 64 following an 89 in the first frame of the morning. Higgins - who edged Trump 18-15 for the last of his four world titles in 2011 - produced an immaculate response as breaks of 64, 65, 61, 53 and 56 saw the Scotsman trail 7-6.
