CAIRO, Sept 14, 2018 (MENA) - France has stressed its full support to Egypt's efforts to host the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Sharm El Sheikh, during the period from November 17-29. French Ambassador in Cairo Stephane Romatet has made these remarks during a meeting with Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad on Friday. Romatet underlined that his country's support to Egypt will not be restricted to conference, it will also include environmental issues, including any steps to be taken by Cairo, during its chairmanship of the conference, concerning these issues in the coming two years, which will serve environmental issues in the region and the whole world. For her part, Fouad welcomed the French support for Egypt's efforts to host the conference. She stressed the importance of France's support in light of its great experience in matters related to environment, citing France's interest in the issue of climate change, which will be linked to the issue of biodiversity during the conference. She underscored the effective cooperation between the ministry and the French Development Agency through the Green Climate Fund and the financing of projects for adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change on different development sectors.
