CAIRO, July 17, 2018 (MENA) - Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad asserted on Tuesday Egypt's full support to the coming negotiation process aiming at helping developing countries to respond to climate change. This came at a meeting with UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed, Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr and Planning Minister Hala el Saeid to discuss important files in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the Group of 77 and China for year 2018 and its presidency of the African Union in 2019. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2018 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development convened at the UN HQ in New York. According to a press release by the Environment Ministry on Tuesday, the environment minister said that Egypt is looking forward to preserving nature through a global initiative for nature-based solutions. She invited the UN deputy secretary to attend a High Level Segment of the 14th meeting of Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD/COP 14), set for the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on November 14-15. The 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD/COP 14) will be held in Sharm El Sheikh on November 17-29. It is scheduled to discuss a host of issues related to climate change and biological diversity.
