Egypt to host 8th AASW in August 2019
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 14 - 09 - 2018

CAIRO, Sept 14, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt, in coordination with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), will host activities of the 8th Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW) in August in 2019, Egyptian Agriculture Minister Ezzeldin Abu Stait said.
His announcement came during the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol on the measures to be taken to organize AASW. The protocol was inked by Abu Stait and Chairman of FARA Board of Directors Ephraim Amiani Mukisira.
Abu Stait asserted that the African continent is promising for investments and has great investment potentials that can be used in achieving sustainable agricultural development for the benefit of the African nations and accomplishing food security.
The AASW is to be held to discuss Africa's benefiting from innovations to overcome agricultural risks, Abu Stait said.
The event is very important for Egypt as it will help it explore and discover its own potentials and boost cooperation with fellow African states, he also said.
It also offers a good opportunity for exchanging expertise in the field of agriculture and determining the main steps that could be taken by the African countries together to achieve their common goals, he added.
Meanwhile, Head of the Agricultural Research Center Mahmoud Madani asserted the importance of FARA for achieving sustainable agricultural development.
Some 1,500 participants from Africa will attend the event that is held every three years and gathers together all stakeholders in African agriculture science, technology and innovation to take stock of their collective achievements over the past three years and craft a common agenda along with modalities for achieving their collective targets over the next three years.
