CAIRO, Sept 4, 2018 (MENA) - Agriculture Minister Ezz Eddin Abu Steit Tuesday inaugurated a ministerial forum of the closing workshop on supporting governance in Africa's fish wealth sector. The workshop is organised by the African animal wealth office, an affiliate to the AU. Addressing the gathering, Abu Steit stressed the importance of the forum in exchanging information and views among African fish wealth bodies concerned. Development in Africa very much hinges on animal wealth, the minister said, adding that the fish wealth sector has the biggest potentials to achieve sustainable development in the continent. Fish wealth could well be one of Egypt's most important sources of national income, Abu Stait said. Egypt is also a leading country in fish farming , as it tops Africa and the Mediterranean countries and ranks 10th worldwide with 1.8 million tonnes annually, the minister said. Abu Steit added that all projects implemented by his ministry aim to increase Egypt's fish production to 2.3 million tonnes by 2020.
