CAIRO, June 25, 2018 (MENA) - Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad underlined on Monday the importance of creating new mechanisms to carry out environmental projects in a short time in co-operation with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to help improve citizens' life and achieve hoped-for sustainable development. The minister gave the remarks during a meeting with director of the UNDP in Cairo Randa Abul Hassan. Talks tackled accelerating the implementation of joint projects between the ministry and the UN programme, ironing out hurdles to these projects and launching a new package of joint projects financed by the Global Environmental Facility in the domain of nature reserves. The two sides discussed developing nature reserves, boosting ecotourism in Egypt to offer tourists an insight into the impact of man on the environment, foster a greater appreciation of natural habitats, protect biodiversity and create job opportunities for youth in environmentally-sustainable activities.
