AL urges strong media role in development

CAIRO, May 6, 2018 (MENA) - The Arab League has stressed the importance of enhancing the role of the Arab media in helping to achieve sustainable development in the Arab world and to contribute strongly to the implementation of the 2030 sustainable development strategy.
For that goal, the recent Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia adopted the so-called Arab media plan for sustainable development 2030, Arab League assistant chief Haifa Abu Ghazaleh told a round-table meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday.
The meeting, attended by Arab media bodies concerned, is meant to agree on a slogan of the plan and a mechanism for implementing it, she said.
The gathering comes ahead of the 49th meeting of the Arab Information Ministers' Council, she added.
