CAIRO, March 22, 2018 - A parliamentary delegation left Cairo early Thursday for London in a three-day visit aimed at following up the investigations into the death of an Egyptian student in Nottingham City last week. Egyptian student, Maryiam Abdel Salaam, passed away a few days after she had been attacked by a group of UK girls in Nottingham, north of London. The Egyptian delegation is due to hold a series of meetings with UK officials in order to get acquainted with the circumstances that led to Maryiam's death. The UK officials, with whom the delegation is scheduled to meet, include the Permanent Under Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Simon McDonald, UK Member of Parliament for Nottingham Chris Leslie and UK investigator Robert Griffin. The delegation will also hold talks with president of the Egyptian-British Parliamentary Friendship Association Stephen Timms, the family of the victim, the Egyptian doctor who followed up her case and the victim's lawyer. Before leaving Cairo, member of parliament Alaa Abed said that arrangements for this visit have been made in coordination with Egyptian Ambassador to the UK, Nasser Kamel, who prepared the visit's programme in order to facilitate the delegation's mission in reaching the truth of the student's death, MP Abed added.
