CAIRO, March 15 (MENA) - The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources has activated a memorandum of understanding that was signed between the National Water Research Center (NWRC) and the Chinese University of Tsinghua, said the ministry on Thursday. Under the MoU, six Egyptian researchers will be enabled to enroll in Tsinghua University's post- graduate programmes, starting from a teaching assistant degree to the PHD studies, within the framework of the Chinese scholarships programme offered to the Egyptian government in the fields of geotechnical facilities and engineering as well as water management, according to a released statement by the ministry. Tsinghua University is ranked among the world's top ten universities for civil and hydraulic engineering. Cooperation between NWRC and Ysinghua University stems from the state's keenness on encouraging scientific research in academic institutions and scientific centers through implementing twinning programmes with internationally acclaimed universities and scientific centers. Tsinghua University hosts an outstanding laboratory classified as a State Key Laboratory of Hydroscience and Engineering. It was established in 2006, bringing together various elites of hydroscience and engineering research fields of the Tsinghua University. The laboratory was honoured as the "Best Laboratory" in the National Lab Assessment in 2008 and 2013.
