Egyptian Higher Education Minister, Ashraf Al-Shihi met with Japan's ambassador to Cairo, Takihiro Kagua over boosting bilateral educational ties, Al-Bawaba News reported Wednesday. Both officials discussed launching a joint educational accord to increase numbers of scientific scholarships granted by Japanese government especially the ‘Masters' and ‘Doctorate' degrees as well as supplying educational institutions with necessary apparatus. Kagua suggested to establish researches and cultural centers to benefit the Japanese expertise, affirming necessity to develop education and research systems particularly in engineering fields. He revealed that his country intends to increase the granted scholarships for Egypt to become 500 per year instead of 250. Al-Shihi praised the prominent scientific ties between both countries, stressing his ministry's keenness to develop joint cooperation in higher education and scientific scholarship fields.
