Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa met with Amjad Al-Adayleh — Jordan's Ambassador in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance tourism and archaeological cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Dalia Abdel Fattah — General Supervisor of the General Administration of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry.
Issa began the meeting by welcoming the ambassador, stressing the depth of the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries at the governmental and social levels. He also stressed the importance of maximising bilateral cooperation in the tourism and archaeological fields and working to strengthen the capabilities of the tourism sector.
For his part, Al-Adayleh congratulated the minister on assuming his post, expressing his wishes that the coming period would witness more cooperation between the two countries at the tourism and archaeological level.
He also stressed that Egypt is one of the first tourist destinations that Jordanian tourists prefer to visit. Moreover, he referred to the twinning agreement that was signed last November between the cities of Luxor in Egypt and Petra in Jordan, pointing to the importance of working to advance joint tourism marketing.
Furthermore, the meeting dealt with discussing bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Jordan at the tourism and archaeological level and revitalising the tourism movement between the two countries, in addition to moving forward towards implementing joint tourism and promotional programmes to promote tourist and archaeological sites in the two countries at the international level.
This is in addition to working on exchanging experiences in the field of antiquities restoration and training archaeologists to qualify teams of experts and technicians in these areas.
The meeting also touched on the existing coordination between the relevant work teams between the two countries to expand the framework of cooperation, benefit and encourage inter-tourist exchange, and the competitive advantages that each enjoys.
