Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea, has said the Egyptian-Jordanian relations have recently witnessed a great momentum that will pave the way for the two countries to increase fruitful cooperation in various sectors, especially politics, economy, and investment.
This came during the minister's meeting with Amjad Al-Adayleh, Jordan's Ambassador in Cairo, on Monday.
The meeting dealt with a number of files of common interest between the two countries, on top of which are the strengthening of joint cooperation in the industrial and commercial fields, overcoming the obstacles that Jordanian investors may face in the Egyptian market, facilitating trade flows between Egypt and Jordan, and enhancing joint cooperation in the field of developing micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
The minister said that the meeting shed light on the "Decent Life" initiative to develop Egyptian villages. This will contribute to achieving comprehensive social and economic development that will benefit about 55 million Egyptians.
The meeting also discussed exchanging expertise in developing small projects between Egypt's Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) and its Jordanian counterpart. MSMEDA offers direct and indirect financing and non-financial services that include marketing, training, and project administration. Gamea noted that the issuance of the MSMEs Development Law will constitute a leap in the facilities provided by the state to these projects.
She added that the Ministry's Industrial Modernization Center plays a pivotal role in promoting the Egyptian industry and creating a favourable business environment for it through the specialized technical services it provides to the industrial community, especially small business owners, noting that the centre contributes significantly to achieving an increase in the export growth rates of the beneficiary companies.
For his part, Ambassador Amjad Al-Adayleh affirmed that the Jordanian-Egyptian coordination and cooperation in various economic and political fields is proceeding according to the visions of King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi towards strengthening the relations and strategic partnership that unites the two brotherly countries.
He valued the level of the Jordanian-Egyptian economic partnership, and the bilateral keenness to build on and expand successful models, in a way that opens the doors to more promising investment opportunities and opportunities, which can be built upon to enhance inter-economic cooperation.
He also praised the great development that Egypt is witnessing in many sectors and the implementation of major successful projects, and the Egyptian experience in the economic and development fields.
