Iran reaches "good" cooperation agreement with IAEA: FM
Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 12 - 2021

The Iranian foreign minister said on Wednesday that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have reached a "good agreement" in line with mutual cooperation, according to the ministry's website.
"Last night, we reached a good agreement with the IAEA that could address some of the alleged concerns about Iran's nuclear program and lead to continued cooperation with the IAEA," said Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Abdollahian did not elaborate on the details of the agreement, but said "our approach is the complete removal of sanctions related to the JCPOA (the 2015 nuclear deal) and to address the concerns of the parties regarding Iran's nuclear program."
According to Tasnim news agency, Iran has voluntarily allowed the IAEA to replace the damaged cameras at the TESA (Iran Centrifuge Technology Company) plant in Karaj centrifuge-parts manufacturing site with new ones.
The IAEA said earlier that its inspectors had been denied access to the site, 40 km northwest of Iran's capital Tehran. Iran has blamed Israel for the sabotage act in Karaj on June 23 and urged IAEA to "clarify position" on sabotage against Iranian nuclear sites.
Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations Majid Takht-Ravanchi said his country demands "verifiable guarantees" that the other parties will not violate over Iran's nuclear program, Press TV reported Wednesday.
"Iran is determined to make every effort to restore the JCPOA. To that end, our proposals put forward in Vienna are in full conformity with the JCPOA and Resolution 2231," Takht-Ravanchi said in a statement on Tuesday.
Iran has demonstrated its political will, seriousness and constructive engagement with its interlocutors to arrive at a good agreement as soon as possible, he said.
It is time for other sides to prove they are also willing to accept and implement, effectively and in good faith, all their JCPOA commitments, the Iranian envoy added.
The U.S. former government under President Donald Trump withdrew Washington from the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in 2018 and re-imposed sanctions against Iran. In response, Iran started dropping some of its commitments under the accord in 2019.
Sinde Joe Biden took office this year, efforts have been underway to revive the deal. However, negotiations have recently slowed down as Tehran called for the guarantees as well as removal of sanctions as the pre-conditions for the restoration of the deal.
