The Ministry of Trade and Industry has agreed with the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supplies to develop an action plan to launch specialized exhibitions in Cairo and major governorates to provide medical equipment for doctors and radiology centres through soft financing programmes, in cooperation with the Doctors' Syndicate.
Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea said that the aim of this initiative is to support young doctors, which comes in line with the Central Bank of Egypt's directions to increase the financing portfolio allocated to small and medium projects to 25% in various production sectors.
Gamea added that those exhibitions will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, starting in the Greater Cairo region, and then it will move to a number of governorates in Delta and Upper Egypt.
The minister explained that the parties that will participate in this initiative include companies that manufacture and import medical equipment, financial institutions, MSMEDA, and Egyptian banks.
Bahaa Zeidan, head of the Unified Procurement Authority, praised the important role of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in providing the needs of the medical sector during the pandemic of the novel Coronavirus and at the same time preserving the export markets of the Egyptian medical supplies sector in global markets.
Zidan added that there is an opportunity for all companies dealing with the Unified Procurement Authority to participate in the initiative to support young doctors, which number about 200 local and foreign companies specialized in the field of medical equipment, noting that all products will be provided to doctors within the framework of the initiative at contract prices between the Unified Procurement Authority and the supplying companies.
