Avaya, an American multinational technology company, will launch a global centre in Egypt to provide its services to all the countries in which the company operates, besides localising its cloud-based technologies, software, and solutions.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, on Monday met with Nidal Abou-Ltaif, president for Avaya International in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific.
The meeting discussed cooperation in the fields of training and technological solutions to support digital transformation of Egypt and enhance the local technological products and services' competitiveness.
The meeting was attended by Abeer Shakweer, executive director at the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), and Ahmed Fayed, Avaya Channel Manager in Egypt and Libya.
Talaat said his Ministry is interested in cooperation with major international companies specialised in smart technology solutions, stressing the importance of cooperation with Avaya to provide the latest technological solutions and innovative technologies that will contribute effectively to the digital transformation of Egypt.
For his part, Abou-Ltaif said Avaya looks forward to cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and that they are keen to support the digital transformation process in the country through providing the latest innovative technology solutions.
He added that Avaya has increased the number of its work team in Egypt by 80%, noting that Egypt has a plenty of qualified human resources.
The meeting also resulted in signing an agreement to introduce Avaya's cloud-based platform to the Ministry's employees to enable them to communicate and collaborate more effectively, and also train human resources on the latest smart software platforms and Avaya technologies, in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) and the Information Technology Institute (ITI).
Noteworthy, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched the NAID in cooperation with Avaya to enable people with hearing and speech impairments to access emergency, ambulance, and fire services through "Wasel" application, which enables visual communication through sign language and visual aids.
