Facebook announced that it is broadening its partnership with the RiseUp Summit, to include a more diverse range of cutting-edge programmemess and training underlining the company's growing commitment to local and regional start-ups and developers.
One such pioneering initiative is ‘Developer Circles from Facebook', a programmeme designed to nurture the local developer community with workshops and hands-on experience and help them access breakthrough technologies.
The RiseUp Summit, was launched in 2013 to drive entrepreneurship in Egypt and in MENA by providing a solid foundation of digital skills.
This year's summit focused on seven tracks designed to guide startups on launching and maintaining their trajectory to success, including; Smart Capital, Creative Culture, Creative Economies, Tech for Humans, FinTech, Emerging Tech, and Growth Hacks. Keeping pace with its growing popularity, the 2019 edition of RiseUp has relocated from the AUC's Greek Campus in downtown Cairo to the university's larger more modern campus in New Cairo, offering participants more space and facilities.
"With the help of our partnership with RiseUp, we hope to continuously find new ways every year to add value to a burgeoning community of self-starters and entrepreneurs. Digital skills are a prerequisite to success and in such a dynamic field, you have to be at the top of your game to grow your business or become part of a winning team," said Walied Elamien, Facebook Product Partnerships programme Manager. "At Facebook we're here every year to help participants hone a diverse skill set including digital as well as other business essential skills.
Together with its focus on digital technology for innovation, Facebook is also invested in nurturing and promoting leadership, helping startup founders and teams navigate challenges with a collective skill set optimized for an evolving digital economy.
"Developers are the catalysts working to advance the global economy. They design our future, building the tools and services that can improve our lives. ‘Developer Circles from Facebook' provides them with a network and expert support to successfully manage the early stages of their innovation journey. We also provide them with access to breakthrough technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) allowing them to explore new horizons," Elamien said.
"We're proud to have Facebook on board as a long-term partner. Riseup Summit launched with a vision that the future belongs to those who chase their dreams, and Facebook provides everyone in our entrepreneurial ecosystem with the tools they need to do just that," said Abdel Hameed Sharara, CEO and co-founder of RiseUp. "The 2019 edition of RiseUp is focused on the #JourneytoGrowth and together with Facebook we continue to explore new ways to support start-ups and help them impact the world."
