RiseUP summit day 1: Ministry of Solidarity signs a couple of protocols
RiseUp is true pride for Egypt, real contributing force to economy, Egypt's tourism, says Al Mashat

The RiseUp Summit, an event for MENA's entrepreneurs, started on Friday and will run until Sunday. On the first day of RiseUp, a protocol was signed between the ministry of social solidarity, RiseUp, and PepsiCo Egypt for the ‘Egypt 2030 Hackaton'.
The hackathon aims to explore innovative solutions and sustainable development objectives, in line with Egypt's 2030 Vision, to some of the main challenges facing Egypt in the fields of zero hunger, and gender equality in the labour market. The competition is to take place in April 2019.
From her side, Ghada Wali, minister of social solidarity said, "We are looking for new, young, and creative supportive ideas. I'm sure this summit will help us find them, in order to work with them on helping achieve Egypt's sustainable development goals, for Egypt'sVision2030."
Wali also signed a protocol with Flat6Labs to support the ‘StartEgypt' initiative. The ministry will assist in terms of orienting them on Egypt's social problems which coincide with Egypt's Vision 2030, strengthening the StartEgypt's marketing and outreach efforts, as well as providing logistical support, in liaision with the various governorates across the country.
StartEgypt is an Egyptian start up initiative funded by the UK's Department for International Development, supported by the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank group, and powered by Flat6Labs, to inspire and support hundreds of Egyptian entrepreneursand social enterprises. StartEgypt is poised to support aspiring Egyptian entrepreneurial services and activities, as well as reach targeted content.
For her part, Rania Al-Mashat, minister of tourism, assured that RiseUp is a true pride for Egypt, and a real contributing force to the economy, and Egypt's tourism.
She explained that entrepreneurship is extremely important, as we go into what is known as the fourth industrial revolution. The government's role in setting policy, will be to set the platform for entrepreneurship and enterprises to take over.
She further added,that the number of jobs and exports created by technology and start-ups is extremely impressive.
"We are hosting the UN's World Tourism Organisation's (UNWTO)conference for the Middle East, and there is more than one day dedicated to start-ups and hackathons, and we will be announcing an exciting partnership with RiseUp in due course" Al Mashat finally declared.
