Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, headed on Monday to the Omani capital, Muscat, to partake in the 14th edition of the meetings of the Egyptian-Omani joint committee, and led the Egyptian meetings delegation.
The joint committee was held on Monday and Tuesday, headed by the two countries' foreign ministers, Sameh Shoukry and Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.
The joint committee meetings came in view of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's visit to Oman, and his meeting with the Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said in 2018.
"The aforesaid outcomes included the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially on the economic front, and in terms of enhancing commercial exchange, in addition to advancing relations toward wider horizons which correspond with the special and brotherly relations between the two peoples and countries," an Egyptian foreign ministry statement read.
A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the meetings. The two ministers will also address international and regional issues of common interest. They also discussed ways of coordination in order to maintain regional security and stability.
Over a year ago, Al-Sisi visited Oman and met with Sultan Qaboos and other top officials to further bilateral relations. Both additionally addressed regional and international issues of common interest.
