4th annual "Egypt Automotive" launches today under sponsorship of prime minister
50 Egyptian, foreign experts look into automotive sector investment opportunities, Suez Canal economic zone
Published in Daily News Egypt on 09 - 12 - 2017

The fourth annual Egypt Automotive summit will launch today and continue for two days, under the sponsorship of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, corresponding with Autotech's 24th edition, dedicated to production needs and spare parts, after a strong partnership with Informa Art Line, and sponsorship of the General Authority for the Development of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), headed by Mohab Mamish.
The conference will include ten workshops where a prominent group of government and investment leaders will speak. The speakers include Ahmed Fekry Abdelwahab, the honorary head of the conference; Ahmed Abdel Razek, chairperson of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA); Raouf Ghabbour, chairperson of GB Auto; Sahir Hashim, the managing director of Shell Lubricants Egypt; Mohsen Adel, vice president of EGX; Karim Nagar, head of Kayan Company, and Amr Abo Frekha, head of the Exporting Council for Engineering Industries, among 50 Egyptian and foreign speakers.
Mohamed Aboul Fotouh, CEO of Egypt Automotive, said that the summit will focus this year on many changes witnessed by the Egyptian automotive sector after the decision to float the Egyptian pound in 2016. This will happen through ten workshops that will discuss the economic decisions that followed and affected the sector greatly. The discussions will also include the car manufacturing strategy and the reasons for delaying its issuance through a discussion inclusive of all the bodies and companies working in the market.
Aboul Fotouh added that the summit will discuss investment opportunities available for the automotive industry and production requirements in the SCZone. It will also tackle the impact of Egypt joining the BRICS and Mercosur agreements on the future of the automotive industry, as well as showcasing the private sector's role in developing the mass transportation system.
The conference head revealed that workshops were added to the conference for the first time. They discuss the impact of modern technology on limiting trade fraud, especially in terms of spare parts and production needs. Workshops will also highlight mechanisms for the automotive sector to benefit from non-banking services, especially company listing and trade on the EGX, as well as increasing the volume of companies and funding their expansions, in addition to several workshops about developing the maintenance sector, aftersales services, and mechanisms to increase exports of feed-in industries.
Egypt Automotive is considered the first and largest forum for the automotive industry in Egypt. It discusses all the cases concerning the sector. Its first session was in 2014. Representatives of the government, including ministers, authority heads, and company chairpersons take part in it.
Egypt Automotive and Informa Art Line announced last month their alliance to present the 4th annual session for the car industry in 2017.
Autotech is the 24th Cairo international auto aftermarket trade show for spare parts, accessories, and car components, introducing workshops, service centres, and the most prominent feed-in industries in the sector. It is hosted by the Cairo International Convention Centre between 10 and 12 December 2017.
Mostafa Khalil, Autotech chairperson, expected this round of the exhibition to witness great success, especially since more than 100 foreign companies will participate.
