Hegazy discusses Libyan crisis with Commander for US Africa Command
Waldhauser, Bodde praised the pivotal role of Egypt to restore stability in Libya

Egypt's army chief-of-staff, General Mahmoud Hegazy, met on Tuesday with Commander for US Africa Command Thomas Waldhauser and the US Ambassador to Libya Peter Bodde during their visit to Egypt, according to a statement issued by Military Spokesperson Tamer Al-Refaei.
The two sides discussed the developments in the Libyan issue as well as the international and regional efforts to achieve a compromise between all Libyan parts amid Egypt's concerted efforts to end the Libyan crisis by taking practical actions to end the political stalemate in the country and boosting a comprehensive national reconciliation, which keeps the unity of all Libyan territories and establishing a modern democratic civil state empty of terrorism and extremism, the statement read.
Hegazy asserted Egypt's support for the political process by the national dialogue in Libya and reaching consensual solutions for the main issues which affect stability of the situation in Libya to complete building the structure of the state and its national institutions, according to Al-Refaie.
Al-Refaei added that Waldhauser and Bodde praised the pivotal role of Egypt to restore stability in Libya due to the historic relations between the two countries and asserting that the US and Egypt share the same view in the Libyan issue.
The Libyan crisis has interrupted after the Libyan uprising in February 2011, which resulted in the ouster and killing of former President Muammar Al-Gaddafi in October 2011 after months of fighting between rebels and pro-Gaddafi forces. Several parties in Libya are in direct conflict Libya now against each other and supported by several international and regional countries.
