Value of Egyptian exports to the United States reached EGP 10.6bn in 2016: CAPMAS

The value of Egyptian exports to the United States reached EGP 10.6bn in 2016 and represent 4.7% of Egypt's exports to the world, compared to EGP 9.4bn in 2015—an increase of 12.3%.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization & Statistics (CAPMAS) published on Sunday in its "Economic Relations between Egypt and the United States of America" bulletin. It addresses analytically the foreign trade volume between Egypt and the US (exports and imports), as well as US investments in Egypt, the number of American tourists, and the amount of tourist nights spent in 2016 compared to 2015.
Exports of finished garments came in first place with 56.1% of the total exports of the US, reaching EGP 5.9bn in 2016 compared to EGP 5.7bn in 2015—an increase of 4.1%.
The value of Egyptian imports from the United States reached EGP 36.5bn in 2016 and represent 5.5% of Egypt's imports from the world, compared to EGP 33.5bn in 2015—an increase of 8.9%.
Imports of boilers, machinery, tools, and machinery ranked first with a total value of EGP 5.6bn in 2016, compared to EGP 4.3bn in 2015—an increase of 28.6%.
US investments in Egypt reached EGP 27m in 2016 compared to EGP 13.2m in 2015—an increase of 104.9%.
Moreover, the total number of tourists arriving from the US reached 184,300 tourists in 2016, compared to 188,700 tourists in 2015—a decrease rate of 2.3%.
The number of tourist nights reached 1.3 million in 2016, compared to 1.5 million tourist nights in 2015—a decrease of 18.7%.
