Egypt exports EGP 7.9bn to Nile Basin countries, EGP 2.7bn in imports in 2015: CAPMAS
EGP 4bn was exported to Sudan and EGP 1.83bn to Kenya

Egypt's exports to Nile Basin countries rose to EGP 7.9bn in 2015, compared to EGP 6.9bn in 2014, an increase of 14.8%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).
CAPMAS issued Tuesday its annual bulletin on the trade exchange between Egypt and Nile Basin countries for 2015, which presents and analyses the volume of trade (exports v imports) with Nile Basin countries: Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and Eritrea.
According to CAPMAS, the total value of imports from Nile Basin countries amounted to EGP 2.7bn in 2015, compared to EGP 4.0bn in 2014, a decrease of 31.8%.
Egypt's exports to Sudan ranked first at EGP 4bn in 2015, compared to EGP 3bn in 2014, an increase of 31.7%.
The most important items exported to Sudan are plastics, sugar, iron, and related products.
Exports to Kenya came in second place with a value of EGP 1.83bn in 2015, compared to EGP 1.78bn in 2014, an increase of 2.6%, according to CAPMAS.
The most important items exported to Kenya are industrial soap, washing preparations, candles, paper, paper crafts, and miscellaneous manufactured articles.
According to CAPMAS, imports from Kenya to Egypt ranked first, amounting to EGP 2.1bn in 2015, compared to EGP 2.4bn in 2014, a decrease of 10.6%.
The most important items imported from Kenya are coffee, tea, spices, and tobacco.
Imports from Ethiopia came in second place with a value of EGP 0.3bn in 2015 compared to EGP 0.4bn in 2014, a drop of 36.3%.
The most important items imported from Ethiopia are live animals, grains, oleaginous fruits, medical plants, and fodder.
In terms of exports to Egypt, chemical products and plastics ranked first, amounting to EGP 2.3bn in 2015, compared to EGP 2.2bn in 2014, an increase of 6%, according to CAPMAS.
For imports, animal and plant products, beverages, and tobacco came first with a value of EGP 2.4bn in 2015 compared to EGP 3.0bn in 2014, a decrease of 21.3%.
