Egypt investigates death of Egyptian citizen in Italy

The embassy will announce the results of its investigation with the Italian sides as soon as it's concluded

Egypt's general prosecutor, Nabil Sadek, has ordered investigations to be opened over the death of Egyptian citizen Hany El-Sayed in an Italian prison.
He also ordered the prosecution's international cooperation office to urge Italian authorities to review the results of their investigations.
Moreover, the Egyptian embassy in Rome is following the investigations of El-Sayed's death, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The embassy is to follow the investigation step by step with the Italian side and will announce the results of the investigations directly after its conclusion.
The embassy consul headed to Rome—particularly to the prison where the incident took place—and met with the head of the prosecution and the security director to review the Italian authorities' investigations over the case.
The consul seeks to review the results of the forensics and inspect the details relating to the conditions of the citizen prior to his death.
He further iterated to Italian officials Egypt's concern for a prompt investigation and an examination of all the details of the case as soon as possible.
The consul also discussed ways to transport the citizen's body to Egypt for burial.
Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry called on the Egyptian embassy in Rome to investigate the case after hearing about it last week.
El-Sayed was reportedly found dead in an Italian prison last week, with the Italian authorities reporting that the citizen was found dead after committing suicide.
