Business News launches ‘Expert Guide' to discuss future of poultry industry
Round table will present important international experiences of poultry industry such as Brazil, Iran, South Africa, and Turkey, says Chairman of Business News

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafi and Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman inaugurated the round table organised by "Business News" Foundation Monday under the name "Expert Guide" to discuss the future of the poultry industry in Egypt under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and the support of the Egyptian Federation of Poultry headed by Nabil Darwish.
The round table will host international advisory expert Rupert Claxton, general manager at Gira Consulting and Research in London and a specialist in the food and poultry industry, who will present important international experiences in promoting the poultry industry such as those of Brazil, Iran, South Africa and, Turkey, said chairman of Business News Mostafa Sakr.
"The poultry industry is suffering from a lack of modernisation of the laws controlling the industry and a lack of coordination between the government and industry players," Sakr said.
Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, representatives working in the poultry industry, and related services industries will all participate in the round table.
The discussion will focus on the challenges facing the poultry industry in Egypt, new opportunities, and the risk of opening the door to imports in light of the state's strategy for the advancement of the industry.
The estimated size of poultry sector investments in the Egyptian domestic market is about EGP 25bn, but the sector still suffers poor organisation, especially since unlicensed farms account for 70% of the sector due to the difficulty and lengthy processes of licensing procedures as well as a great deal of red tape.
The "Business News" Foundation announced earlier this year its intention to hold a series of round tables concerning different economic sectors, under the name "Business News Expert Guide" in addition to the conferences which the institution organised in energy, capital markets, and automotive sectors.
