Spanish Jorge Lorenzo won the world MotoGP title by winning the last racing season in Valencia. The title is Lorenzo's fifth MotoGP world title and his third 250cc title.
By winning the title, Lorenzo prevented Yamaha team-mate the Italian Valentino Rossi from winning his 10th title.
Before the Valencia race, Rossi was seven points ahead in rankings from Lorenzo. However, having won that race, Lorenzo topped the rankings with a total score of 330 points, sending Rossi to second place with a score of 325 points, after finishing fourth in the Valencia race.
Lorenzo finished the race first with a time of 45:59. Spanish driver Marc Marquez from the Honda team finished second, only 0.26 seconds behind. Third place was taken by Honda as well, by Spanish driver Dani Pedrosa at 0.65 seconds behind Lorenzo.
Rossi was not able to compete, having started in last place, and barely finished fourth, 19.7 seconds behind Lorenzo, who was able to maintain his place through the race despite fierce competition with Honda's Marquez and Pedrosa over the last three laps.
Former world champion Valentino Rossi accused Honda's Marquez and Pedrosa of collusion with their compatriot Jorge Lorenzo to help him win the race and said they were protecting him and never tried to beat him.
