DUBAI: Bahrain telecom operator Batelco said its Bahrain Startup Weekend has attracted over 80 participants for the event in Hamala from November 8-10. “The focus of the event is to discover entrepreneurs or aspiring entrepreneurs and assist them on the road to establishing successful ICT and e-business enterprises,” it said in a statement. “Participants with marketing, public relations, business development, web design, application design and various other skills are participating. “The teams will have the opportunity to win cash prizes and support to put their business plans into action. The winning team will receive a cash prize of BHD 4,000, second prize is BHD 2,000 and third prize is BHD 1,000,” the operator said. Additionally, the first three teams will be given free incubation services by Bahrain Development Bank and free cloud services from The Cloud. All teams will have the opportunity to benefit from funding from Tenmou of up BHD 20,000. Bahrain Startup Weekend will feature speakers and coaches from companies including Mumtalakat, Microsoft, Tamkeen, Ericsson, BDB, Tenmou and Batelco.
