DUBAI: Women in Kuwait have praised police for arresting and detaining a man who had been taking photographs of women in shopping malls across the country. The young man was arrested at a shopping mall in Salmiya after a woman notice him using his phone to snap a photo of her. When the woman confronted him, police said he denied taking any pictures. She then called on mall security to investigate and they uncovered some 100 images of women and girls on his phone. Women in the country are hoping that he will be charged under the law as an example against sexual harassment of women. “I think that while it might seem harmless, it is a step in the right direction to have this man arrested and sentenced to jail for harassing women,” Salma, a local Kuwaiti woman, told Bikyamasr.com.
