CAIRO: Few hours ago, the former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohamed El-Baradei has officially announced that he will co-found of a new political party called “The Revolution”. The party includes prominent public figures such as the economist Galal Amin, the famous writer Alaa Al-Aswany, TV presenter and activist Gameela Ismail, politician and Kefaya protest movement founder George Ishaq, international law professor Hossam Eissa, film director Khaled Youssef, film producer Mohamed El-Adl, and co-founder of the Revolutionary Youth Coalition Shady El-Ghazaly Harb and Rami Shaath. “The Party is aiming to be the nucleus of a coalition that will include all secular forces in Egypt”, said El-Baradei. It should be mentioned that in February 2010, El-Baradei announced the formation of the National Association for Change (NAC), which included many public and political figures, aiming to was press for positive reforms in the political scene. Moreover, In January 2012, El-Baradei withdrew from the presidential race, in a sign of refusal to the decision of electing the president before drafting a constitution, which determines his or her powers.
