A Lebanese judge on Friday charged with negligence the owners of a building that collapsed in Beirut at the weekend, killing 27 people. If found guilty they could face between 15 and 25 years in prison. The five-story residential building in the Ashrafieh neighborhood was built in the 1960s. The collapse took place due to cracks that had formed in the building due to recent bad weather. Five of the victims were Lebanese citizens, including a 15-year-old girl. The others were foreigners from Egypt, the Philippines, Jordan and Sudan. Authorities are continuing to remove debris and uncover bodies from the rubble.
