Beijing (dpa) – Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao plans to visit three Arab nations and address a summit on energy next week, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Wen was scheduled to hold talks with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar from Saturday to January 19, ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said in a statement. Wen would also discuss China's energy policies in a speech at the Fifth World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Liu said. Liu said Wen's talks with leaders of the three nations would cover bilateral relations and “international and regional issues of common concern,” expected to include Iran. The trip would promote China's relations with Arab nations and the broader Islamic world, he said. The January 16-19 World Future Energy Summit aims to promote energy efficiency and “clean” technology by encouraging politicians and business leaders to invest in and develop more sustainable energy, organizers said.
