Police in Pakistan said an American man was kidnapped by gunmen from his home in the city Lahore. The American Embassy in Islamabad identified the man as Warren Weinstien and said they are working with the Pakistani police force to locate Weinstien and bring him home safely. Police said they are investigating and the search is ongoing to find the kidnappers and rescue Weinstien, who was scheduled to return to the US on August 15. Police said the armed men posed as food beggars at Iftar time and Weinston's guards opened the gate to give them food. They then forced their way into the American man's resident. It was reported that the Weistien was based in Islamabad but had traveled to Lahore for work purposes. He spent the last five years based in Pakistan for his job. His company described him as “a world renowned development expert”. No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping as of Sunday. A Swiss couple was recently kidnapped by armed men in the province of Balochistan in July while traveling by car. BM
