Latens given Egypt's first satellite IPTV system
Published in Bikya Masr on 12 - 04 - 2011

CAIRO: Egypt is looking to improve its satellite delivery systems and Latens, a software security solutions provider for pay television announced on Thursday that it had been chosen by the Egyptian Advanced Multimedia Systems (EAMS) as the company to protect Egypt's first Satellite IPTV delivery system in the country.
According to a press release from the company, EAMS Ecosystem will include Latens' CAS and other system components from industry leaders to offer High Definition linear TV, Pay Per View and Video On Demand services in Egypt via the Nilesat satellite provider.
“Of all the solutions we considered, Latens' CAS was the most attractive solution as it offers a high level of protection and security for our IPTV system.” said Tarek Malash, CEO of EAMS in the press statement.
“Latens' experienced team were able to demonstrate their software-only security solution which we considered to be the best in terms of functionality, scalability and cost of ownership,” said Mohamed Swidan, CTO of EAMS.
“This is our first customer in Africa and outlines Latens' continuing growth in emerging markets along with our capability in providing innovative solutions to our customers,” added Jeremy Thorp, CEO of Latens.
Latens CAS is the world's only DVB compliant software-only CAS designed for operators of cable, DTH and DTT. The card-less technology offers pay TV operators a more dynamic and secure anti-piracy solution at a much lower cost than traditional card-based or embedded set-top systems.
