Egypt's PM calls for Gaza ceasefire, international action at SCO Summit
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 06 - 2025

Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly urged an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stressed the importance of international cooperation on climate, finance, and sustainable development at Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, the Egyptian Cabinet said on Monday.
Speaking on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian prime minister condemned Israel's military campaign in Gaza as a "war of starvation" rather than a political or hostage-related conflict, citing nearly 60,000 civilian deaths and more than 119,000 injuries. He reaffirmed Egypt's support for a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, describing it as the only path to lasting regional stability.
Prime Minister Madbouly also highlighted Egypt's priorities on sustainable water management, regional security, and the responsible use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to support economic development and address global challenges.
He called for reform of the global financial system and international institutions to provide developing countries with funding and technological support, and praised the SCO Plus platform as a forum to enhance dialogue and cooperation among member states and international partners.
